Manage your Android device’s location settings You can use location-based services such as getting better local search results, like commute predictions and nearby restaurants based on your phone’s location, when you turn location on in settings. Understand the location settings available on your phone Important: When you turn off location on your phone, apps and services can’t get your phone’s location. You can still get local results and ads based on your IP address. Tip: Apps have their own settings. Learn how to manage app location settings. Turn location on or off for your phone Swipe down from the top of the screen. Touch and hold Location . Help your phone get a more accurate location (Google Location Services a.k.a. Google Location Accuracy) Turn your phone’s location accuracy on or off When Google Location Accuracy is onWhen you have Google Location Accuracy turned on, your phone uses these sources to get the most accurate location: GPS Wi-Fi Mobile networks Sensors (such as accelerometer) Google may collect location data periodically and use this data in an anonymous way to improve location accuracy and location-based services. When Google Location Accuracy is offWhen you turn off Google Location Accuracy, your phone uses GPS and sensors, like accelerometer, to determine location. GPS can be slower and less accurate than other sources. When Google Location Accuracy is off, GPS, Wi-Fi, network, and sensor data are not used or collected by Google Location Accuracy. For Android 12 and higher, you can manage each app’s permission to access precise location. This is different from Google Location Accuracy, which is a location setting for your device that allows your phone to use more sources for the most accurate location.  Even with Google Location Accuracy on, you can grant an app only approximate location permission if you don’t want to allow it access to your device’s precise location.  If you turn off Google Location Accuracy, apps may not be able to get your device’s precise location. Learn how to manage app location permissions. Set up Wi-Fi & Bluetooth scanning To help apps get better location info, you can let your phone scan for nearby Wi-Fi access points or Bluetooth devices. Android 12 & higher Swipe down from the top of the screen. Touch and hold Location . Tap Location services. Turn Wi-Fi scanning and Bluetooth scanning on or off. Android 11 & lower Swipe down from the top of the screen.  Touch and hold Location . Tap Wi-Fi scanning and Bluetooth scanning.  Turn Wi-Fi scanning and Bluetooth scanning on or off. Send your location in an emergency To help responders find you quickly, your phone’s location can be sent when you dial or text an emergency number, like when you dial 911 in the US or 112 in Europe. If Android Emergency Location Service (ELS) works in your country or region and on your mobile network, and you haven’t turned ELS off, your phone will automatically send its location to first responders through ELS. If ELS is off, your mobile carrier might still send the device’s location during an emergency call or text. Turn Android Emergency Location Service on or off You can turn Emergency Location Service on or off at any time. How Emergency Location Service works ELS is only activated when you call or text a local emergency number. During your emergency call, ELS may use Google Location Accuracy and other information to get the most accurate location possible for the device. Your phone sends its location to authorized emergency partners for the purpose of helping emergency services locate you. Your location is sent directly from your phone to emergency partners. After a completed emergency call or text during which ELS was active, your phone may send deidentified usage and analytics data to…

Why Does My Android Keep Saying I'm in a Different City?

Why Does My Android Keep Saying I’m in a Different City? [Answered 2022]- Droidrant This problem can occur if your device is showing you the wrong location. There are a few ways to fix it. First, make sure you have enabled Location access in your device’s settings. Go to Settings > Security & Privacy. You can also turn on the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth toggles. Once you’ve set these up, you should find the Location services section and tap on the Google Location Accuracy option. Depending on which app you have, you may need to uninstall and reinstall the app to fix the problem. Then, you can restart your phone and see if that fixes the problem. Another option is to disable the GPS function and use an alternative navigation app. In most cases, this solution will resolve the issue. However, you need to make sure that you’ve enabled the high-accuracy GPS mode on your device. Then, make sure that your navigation app has unrestricted data access. If that still doesn’t solve the problem, you can try an alternative navigation application. The next option is to open the Developer Options and make sure that the GPS is turned on. If the location is set to “off”, your phone will continue to show the wrong location even if you’re in the same city as it is. If you have enabled GPS, you’ll have to enable it again in the Settings. If the problem still persists, you should re-enable this option. Why Does Google Think I Am in Another City? When you log into Google, the first thing you will notice is that it thinks you are in a different city. This isn’t entirely surprising because the search engine makes use of your IP address to determine your location. But there are other reasons for this inaccuracy. One possible cause is that you have an outdated device, a browser with outdated Operating System, or a combination of both. Clearing your browser’s history may be the solution to the problem. Resetting your web browser might fix this problem. You can reset your browser to clear the cache of your previous location. Here are the steps to follow: To clear your browsing history, go to the Settings page and click on Location. Next, you can click on Reset. When the window opens, you’ll be asked to confirm your location. After you accept the warning, hit OK. You’ll then see a new location. Another possible solution to the location error is cleaning your browsing data. Go to the Chrome menu and click on More. On the left, click History. Then, go to the Clear Data section. From here, choose Clear Browsing Data. This will wipe out all your browsing history. Then, visit the sites that use this information and update your browser’s location. If this doesn’t fix the problem, you can try installing location-based extensions for your browser. How Do I Reset My Location on Android? If you’re facing this problem, you may be wondering how to solve it. First of all, check your GPS settings. Then, tap on the Mode option, and choose High accuracy. Your device will try to estimate your location using GPS, Wi-Fi, and mobile networks. However, if you’re still experiencing problems, you can manually correct your location by going to Settings and tapping on the Application Manager. If you’re unable to locate your device, you can go to your browser and clear the cache. Once you have cleared your cache, you should go to the settings menu and select General. You’ll want to tap on “Cache.” In the resulting menu, tap on Wipe cache partition. After selecting Wipe cache partition, confirm that you want to restart your device. Once you’ve done that, your GPS should be restored. Alternatively, if the problem persists, you should visit your local repair shop. If you’re still having problems with your GPS, try rebooting your phone in Safe Mode. If the GPS is not working, you can restart it in Safe Mode. Your device should reboot and display a message informing you that it is in this mode. If this doesn’t work, you can…
